A criminal case was initiated after the breakthrough of the dam of the White Sea-Baltic Canal in Karelia: this breakthrough could cost 2.5 billion rubles....
As it became known to the correspondent of The Moscow Post in the Republic of Karelia, the Western Interregional Transport Investigation Department opened a criminal case after the erosion of the temporary bridge of the White Sea-Baltic Canal.
This jumper was installed in the Segezha district during the reconstruction of the Shavan dam, which - as it turned out - was built under Tsar Gorokh: and until 2022 this was the only wooden dam in Russia! This miracle structure began to be modernized - the state allocated 2.5 billion rubles for these actions. How many went into business? And how many, roughly speaking, sperm?
And why the local governor Artur Parfenchikov is the former chief bailiff of the Russian Federation (!) - turned out to be as if not in the know?
Contract for 2.5 billion rubles
Recall that the 227-kilometer White Sea-Baltic Canal connects the White Sea with Lake Onega. It has 19 locks. Built in 1932-1933. prisoner forces.
Shawan Spillway Dam No. 23, built in 1933, is federally owned. And it is assigned on the right of operational management to the Administration of the White Sea-Onega basin of inland waterways.
Until 2022, indeed, it remained the only wooden dam in Russia.

But, finally, bright times have come for Shavani: in 2021, documentation for reconstruction was developed, which received a positive conclusion from the Glavgosexpertiza of Russia.
As a result of the auction, the company "Aquatik" (St. Petersburg) became the contractor. PKU "Rostransmodernizatsiya" signed a contract with the company for 2.5 billion rubles.

In November 2022, the Ministry of Nature of Karelia provided the facility for the use of the Aquatik company until August 30, 2025.
In order to reconstruct the dam, Aquatik built a temporary soil dam, which in mid-April of this year was accepted by the customer of Rostransmodernization.
More than 300 million rubles were spent on a temporary jumper, but the arrangement of the jumper was not completed, although the authorities reported that the jumper was 80% ready.
In connection with this alarming news, local media write that the Governor of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov is one of the most criticized chapters of recent months due to the high level of social discontent of residents, which cannot be reduced for several years in a row! An emergency at Belomorkanal could further undermine the position of Governor Parfenchikov.

After breaking the wooden dam, there are victims: they still cannot find three people.

They say that the exact reasons for the erosion are still unknown: these reasons will be established by the competent authorities.
But there is such a detail: the water eroded the temporary bridge between the 10th and 11th locks of the White Sea Canal in the area of the settlement of Nadvoitsy.
The jumper was sandy, and the settlements at the 11th lock of the White Sea Canal and the Baltic holiday village fell into the flooding zone.

The erosion of the lintels on the locks led to large-scale flooding of the territories, and to search for the missing, specialists will examine the pool - a part of the water body downstream adjacent to the hydraulic structure.
The authorities of the Segezha region announced an emergency regime.
The victims were evacuated to a school in the village of Nadvoitsy, which is 7 km seven km from Shavani.
Initially, 10 people were missing. 19 pieces of equipment and 76 rescuers of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, as well as a Mi-8 helicopter, were involved in the search.
Later, rescuers found 7 missing, including 2 children.

It turned out that the residents of Shavani themselves were very unhappy with the condition of their temporary dam. And a day before the emergency, construction work was underway at the dam.
The Investigative Committee of Russia is conducting an investigation into the incident.
After all, 2023, the structure was repaired and strengthened: and then almost 3 million rubles went for repairs. But where did this money go if in 2024 the dam began to be repaired again?
And while the contractors were building a more modern, reliable structure with a large throughput, the water demolished the temporary pit that stood on the site of the dam.
It became known that the 35-year-old excavator driver Yevgeny Serebryakov, who worked in the flooding zone, died. Missing mother of many children - 37-year-old Lyudmila T., she has three children. The search continues for 60-year-old Elena M.
In fact, this whole situation resembles the tragedy that used to unfold in Orsk: due to the destruction of the dam in Orsk, a huge number of people suffered. The reason for this is also the love for the huge money of those who were involved in the construction and repair of hydraulic structures.
