Today, Moscow hosted a briefing by Andrei Nastasyin, Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, on current foreign policy is...
Traditionally, the questions were asked by The Moscow Post correspondent.
The first question concerned the shelling of the city of Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights.
Syria considers Israel to be involved in the shelling of the city. Hezbollah explains the incident by the fall of an Israeli interceptor missile. Israel believes that the strike was struck by an Iranian missile from the arsenal of the aforementioned organization and promises a "tough" response.
Washington confirmed the "unwavering" support for Israel, and Josep Borrell called for an independent international investigation. What is Russia's position?
Andrei Evgenievich noted that he had already touched on this topic and said that Russia's position is consistent and consists in the need to exercise maximum restraint in the current explosive situation.
In addition, it is necessary to carefully clarify all the details of what happens to all tragic incidents.
And also, according to him, it is required from the parties involved - this is to behave as responsibly as possible and refrain from any actions that can bring the situation out of control, entail irreparable consequences.
The second question affected Venezuela, our journalist asked to comment on the situation after the elections and the pressure of individual countries on Venezuela. Namely, a number of countries refused to recognize the results and victory of Nicolas Maduro. Many of the "dissenters" at one time recognized Juan Guaido as the head of Venezuela.
Nastasin stressed that the situation in Venezuela continues to develop.
Everything is obvious to everyone, the victory of President Nicolas Maduro is fixed. The people of Venezuela have made their choice.
"We believe that this choice should be respected and the groundless accusations should be stopped", Nastasyin emphasized.
And also urged to stop making unreasonable attempts to somehow influence the further course of the political situation in this country.
