The curators of the "Kyiv regime" are trying to turn the world community against Russia, dispersing the situation around the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant....
On the night of July 4, Ukraine again turned off the Dnieper Line 750 kV, which supplies electricity to the Zaporizhzhya NPP (ZPP). The station was switched to a 330 kV standby line. In May, the power supply of the ZPP was transferred to diesel generators. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) then noted that this was far from the first case of the ZNPP being put into emergency power supply, according to The Moscow Post.
Earlier, the adviser to the general director of the Rosenergoatom concern, Renat Karchaa, reported that before the 330 kV line was restored, the power supply of the nuclear power plant was carried out only along the Dnieper 750 kV line. It remained the only source of electricity for the station. This, he said, posed serious risks.
The next day, the head of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, German Galushchenko, informed the US Ambassador to Kyiv Bridget Brink about the situation in the power system of Ukraine, mentioning that the Russian Federation was allegedly preparing a terrorist attack on the ZPP, but did not explain why the 750 kV line was turned off.
Karchaa also warned that the Armed Forces of Ukraine could attack the ZPP on the night of July 5, using, in particular, ammunition with radioactive waste removed from the South Ukrainian nuclear power plant. According to him, there may be a rocket of the Tochka-U complex in reserve, filled with radioactive waste. "If this madness cannot be stopped, there will be a big trouble," Karchaa stressed.
Washington "sees no threat"
Zaporizhzhya NPP on the south bank of the former Kakhov reservoir is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. It came under the control of Russian troops at the end of February 2022. Since then, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have periodically fired at it, as well as residential areas of Energodar, using unmanned aerial vehicles, heavy artillery and multiple launch rocket systems.
For safety reasons, reactors and generation were completely stopped at the ZPP. The last operating power unit was turned off on September 11, 2022, when the Zaporizhzhya region became part of Russia and the ZPP changed its owner. Currently, all reactors are shut down, although tens of tons of radioactive material are stored at the station.
The sponsors of the Kyiv regime do not want to reckon with the fact that the ZPP belongs to Russia, is located on its territory. The ambiguity of this position of the West was demonstrated by the coordinator of strategic communications of the White House National Security Council John Kirby, who said that the United States does not see the "imminent threat" of undermining the nuclear power plant from Russia. "But we're watching it very closely," he said. "Observe" decided with the help of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
Gun hopes dashed
For a month now, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been conducting active hostilities, but have not been able to achieve their goals in any of the directions of the "counterattack." Hopes for Western weapons were overstated. Kyiv has lost about two and a half thousand units of various weapons, including 16 Leopard tanks supplied by Poland and Portugal, and is preparing the West for the fact that "counter-attacks" can expect failure.
In the last day alone, the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine exceeded 700 people, said the representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.
At the same time, neither Kyiv nor Washington, set up for a long conflict, are ready to admit that plans to return the territories that became part of the Russian Federation are not supported by a power ratio. Hence the desire to do at least something "convincing," using, in particular, provocations at the ZPP.
In an interview with the American television channel NBC News, Zelensky said that Russia plans to undermine the ZPP. "This is not a provocation... they do not simulate a threat, they intend to implement it. In any case, the likelihood of this is higher than ever, "said Karchaa, adviser to the head of Rosenergoatom. He also noted the increased activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the front section, where the ZPP is located.
Maximise damage
Perhaps the goal of the Americans is to inflict maximum damage on Russia, to make some of the territories lost by Kyiv unusable. The first steps have been taken, the Kakhov reservoir has already been "lowered" into the Black Sea. There are five more reservoirs on the Dnieper. Do not forget about sabotage on the Nord Stream gas pipelines. The purpose of their undermining was precisely to damage Russia.
Today, ZPP is next in line. Zelensky's visit to the NATO summit will depend on the situation at the front, said his spokesman Sergei Nikiforov. The West also raised the stakes and the principles of the safety of civilian facilities and the international legal protection of nuclear power plants in armed conflict in accordance with international humanitarian law are at stake (Article 56 of Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions of August 12, 1949).
The mission of IAEA inspectors to the ZPP was the first in the history of this organization in the context of hostilities that threaten the safety of a nuclear facility. But the UN secretary general does not or cannot intervene. He stressed that the station should be an object of civilian infrastructure. This formula plays into the hands of Kyiv, the ZPP is under the protection of the Russian military. The IAEA has repeatedly stated the need to create a safety zone around the ZNPP, but in the understanding of Kyiv, this would mean the transfer of the ZNPP under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The agency has previously faced questions about the safety of nuclear reactors. In 1984, when the Iranian government informed its director general, H. Blix, that the Iraqi side had launched a missile attack on the Bushehr nuclear power plant. Before that, in 1981, when Israel struck a nuclear reactor in Iraq. If a disaster occurs at the ZPP, this list will be replenished.
Create Threat Visibility
Zaporizhzhya NPP threats are not limited. On the eve of the NATO summit in Vilnius, the Kyiv regime spread fakes about the alleged provocation being prepared by Russia at other nuclear power plants. It is reported that the SBU allegedly received data on "terrorist acts with the release of radiation," which Moscow plans. Zelensky even notified the United States, Brazil, India, China, European countries, the Middle East and Africa about this.
The Kremlin called his words "another lie." "You know, there have just been contacts with the IAEA there, on the spot. A very high assessment was from the IAEA, "the presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov recalled.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu believes that the Kyiv regime seeks to create the appearance of a threat of a nuclear catastrophe, continuing to fire at the ZPP.
Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vasily Nebenzya at a meeting of the Security Council of the World Organization on June 23, said that the Russian Federation is alarmed by the increasing allegations of Kyiv about Russia's alleged mining of the ZPP. He noted that the Grossi mission visiting the station could see the absurdity of such statements.
The Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN even circulated a letter confirming that "there are no intentions to blow up the nuclear power plant under Russian control." The document calls on the UN Secretary General and the international community to convince Kyiv to refrain from provocations.
Nuclear Security Games
The West has inflated the stakes, the point of no return has been passed, Renat Karchaa said on the air of the Soloviev Live TV channel. He linked Zelensky's statements about the ZPP with the preparation of Kyiv "for something quite terrible" that is needed to "legalize NATO's entry into the conflict in full."
Western curators of the Kyiv regime can force the Armed Forces of Ukraine to provoke against the ZPP, this opinion was expressed on the air of Sputnik radio by Oleg Glazunov, an expert of the Association of Military Political Scientists.
According to Lenta.ru, the most vulnerable facilities on the territory of the ZNPP are the cooling system, including the dam of the cooling pond, as well as the dry storage of spent nuclear fuel (SNF), built according to the project of Duke Engineering & Services (DE&S). Containers with SNF are placed in the open air.
IAEA inspectors are still in the territory of the ZPP. They say they have not seen vehicles with explosives or preparations for the explosion. Moreover, the director of the ZPP Yuri Chernichuk said yesterday that the Dniprovskaya 750 kV line was reconnected and the station was operating normally.
"All this showed the precariousness of the station's security situation," Rafael Grossi reacted to this news.
Thus, the UN "games" in nuclear security without determining the true source of threats to the ZPP continue. But this is not enough for Kyiv either. Advisor to the head of the president's office, Mikhail Podolyak, attacked Grossi for not supporting Kyiv in the fact that it is Russia that is encroaching on the safety of the station, that the IAEA does not require Moscow to transfer control over the ZPP to Kyiv.
Grossi responded to the order of the Ukrainian side to the station staff to leave its territory before July 5: "We are not leaving anywhere, we remain there".
