Today the next briefing of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova took place....

Traditionally, the correspondent of The Moscow Post also asked his questions.

We had three questions, the first of which was: After Valentina Matvienko's recent visit to Baku, can we expect the Russian House to return to Azerbaijan? Are there any signals from our Azerbaijani partners on this issue?

This institution is perceived by many not just as an organization, but as a spiritual place for the implementation of creative ideas, tasks, projects. It is the Russian House in Baku that plays an important role in preserving cultural and humanitarian ties between Russia and Azerbaijan, Maria Vladimirovna said.

Our proposals for resolving the current situation have been transferred to partners. This issue was also discussed during the visit of the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko to Baku from March 16 to 18, she recalled.

"We are counting on the constructive approach of the Azerbaijani side and the earliest possible achievement of a compromise solution," Zakharova emphasized.

The second question concerned relations with Vilnius. Namely: Does Russia intend to somehow respond to the statement of the Lithuanian prosecutor's office, which accused Russia of involvement in the fire in the IKEA store in Vilnius?

"It seems to me that they need to go to doctors, because Russophobia diagnosis is a contagious disease. You don't need to buy medicine for it. You need to know the story, stop and distort and pervert, you need to separate the truth from lies, "said Maria Zakharova.

This is a good prevention against Russophobia, she added. It is necessary to re-read world fiction, to get acquainted with works of art that, through visual images, convey values from generation to generation.

"Instead of canceling culture, you need to develop it, know it. This is the only way to get rid of Russophobia and other nationalist phobias. And those who come up with such myths need to see a doctor, "she stated.

If there is any data or facts, they must be presented, the diplomat emphasized.

However, at the moment there are no facts. Only manifestations of Russophobia are visible, which has already ceased to matter to us, but continues to harm the authors of these statements themselves.

If everything is interpreted through the prism of anti-Russian phobias, this is not only a violation of human rights, but also a rollback to an archaic state from which humanity has long emerged, said Maria Vladimirovna.

The third question from our correspondent sounded like this: the Russian Foreign Ministry canceled the recommendation for Russians to refrain from traveling to Abkhazia. The volume of Russian financial assistance to Abkhazia this year will amount to 5.3 billion rubles. This assistance includes infrastructure projects, possibly related to the reception of tourists and vacationers.

Taking into account the close historical, political, economic and socio-cultural ties, Russia provides comprehensive support to Abkhazia.

"The main task is to restore and expand the socio-economic infrastructure, improve the quality of life. It also contributes to the development of the tourism potential of the country, which remains a popular holiday destination, "Zakharova added.

According to official statistics, about one and a half million Russians visited Abkhaz resorts last year.

For the comfort of tourists, Moscow and Sukhum have already created and continue to improve the necessary conditions. Problems are solved promptly. Only recently, a large-scale reconstruction of the Sukhumi airport was carried out, which successfully accepted the first test flight from Russia and is preparing for the official opening, she said.

The capacity of the customs border checkpoint in Adler has been increased. Improved capacity of local treatment facilities. Law enforcement agencies of Russia and Abkhazia are in constant contact to ensure law and order and the safety of tourists, concluded Maria Zakharova.
