Our question was: Why exactly now was the entry of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, as well as eight more citizens of this country. What new unfriendly steps of Tokyo pushed the Russian Federation to this step?
Maria Vladimirovna noted that Moscow does not publicly disclose the details of the Russian side's decision to impose personal restrictions against foreign citizens.
'We tend to never do that. Of course, there are exceptions. However, in this case, we adhere to a non-public policy in this matter, "she stressed.
She also recalled that since the beginning of a special military operation in Ukraine in February 2022, an unprecedented unfriendly policy has been introduced in relation to our country.
So, on March 1, 2022, in response to the so-called sanctions list, which included Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the Russian side formed a mirror stop list, which included the then Japanese Foreign Minister.
Our current step, said Maria Zakharova, regarding restrictions on the Japanese foreign minister, is a topical countermeasure.
This measure was taken taking into account the ongoing hostile course of official Tokyo, new so-called sanctions packages, as well as direct material and technical assistance to the military efforts against Russia.
At the same time, it should be noted that the prospects for practical cooperation with Japan are possible only if the Japanese authorities completely abandon attempts to harm the economic security of our country and its citizens, Maria Vladimirovna concluded.
